POS acceptance
UnionPay cards are accepted at all POS terminals of Arab African International Bank (AAIB), Banque Misr, and Alex Bank.If a merchant does not display the UnionPay logo, you can show your UnionPay card to the cashier and ask if it can be used.Dual-branded cards cannot use UnionPay channels in Egypt. To enjoy the full benefits of the UnionPay network, please use a UnionPay-single branded card. -
Cash withdrawal
UnionPay cards are accepted at 100% of ATMs in Egypt, including those operated by Egyptian Banks Company (EBC), Arab African International Bank (AAIB), Banque Misr, QNB Alahli (QNB), Commercial International Bank (CIB), and National Bank of Egypt (NBE).For overseas ATM withdrawals using UnionPay cards, please check the "Help Center - Card Use Instructions - Tips and Tricks" section for regulations from the relevant national authorities.Important:• Some domestic card-issuing banks may set limits on the amount you can withdraw per transaction. Please consult your card issuer for details.• ATMs may have a single withdrawal limit. If needed, you can withdraw in multiple installments, provided the total amount stays within your card’s withdrawal limit. -
Charges
ATM commission fee consists of two parts:(1)Service fee charged by the issuer: please consult the issuer for details.(2)Service fee charged by the ATM acquirer in Egypt: some ATMs will charge commission fee, which is charged by the local banks in Egypt and which has nothing to do with UnionPay or the issuer.Cash withdrawal via debit card results in a lower commission fee. -
Tips
Select PINs that cannot be easily guessed by anyone.
Never disclose your PIN to anyone who claims to represent the bank or the police.
Be alert to your surroundings before conducting any banking transactions.
Keep a close eye on your credit card during transaction to avoid any illegal activities.
If your UnionPay card has been stolen/lost, please inform the issuer immediately.
