UnionPay International Cooperates with SIX Payment (Switzerland) for Merchants Development and Chip Card Acceptance

July 17 - UnionPay International and Six Payment Services (the “Six”), the largest acquirer in Switzerland, sign a cooperation agreement in Zurich, agreeing to have UnionPay cards accepted by more merchants of Six in Switzerland, and conduct necessary modification to UnionPay card acceptance terminals. By the end of 2014, UnionPay IC cards will have been accepted by all ATMs and POS terminals of Six in Switzerland. CaiJianbo, CEO of UnionPay International, and NiklausSantschi, CEO of Six sign the cooperation agreement.

With its acquiring network covering all areas of Switzerland, Six has extended its business to over 30 countries and regions across the world. UnionPay International has cooperated with Six in Switzerland and many other countries in Europe before to develop ATM and merchants acceptance business. At present, UnionPay cards can be used to withdraw cash conveniently in all ATMs in Switzerland and purchase commodities and services in over 10,000 major merchants, including Switzerland’s biggest chain department store Manor, FOXTOWN Shopping village, famous franchise watch stores, etc., which are mainly located in Luzern, Interlaken, Geneve, Zurich, Montrex, Lugano, and other places frequently visited by tourists. Among them, Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich is developing into one of the core business circles that accept UnionPay cards.

Special efforts shall be made to facilitate the modification to card acceptance terminals of cooperative institutions and enable UnionPay IC cards to be widely accepted overseas.
