This year, the UnionPay payment service in the aviation field has witnessed remarkable progress. UnionPay International announced today that the official website of Turkish Airlines accepts UnionPay and the website of AirAsia support multi-currency payment with UnionPay cards. So far, 35 international airlines outside mainland China support online ticket booking with UnionPay cards, and many also provide exclusive offers for UnionPay cards.
Airline booking has become a highlight of UnionPay’s cross-border online acceptance. Booking tickets with UnionPay cards at international airlines websites has many advantages: First, it is convenient; customers are able to get the latest information on discounted tickets and the direct feedback from airlines companies on whether the ticket-booking is successful. Second, it is widely accepted; airline companies that accept UnionPay cover Asia, Europe, America and the Middle East, covering the major routes of Chinese people’s outbound traveling. Third, it is secure; UnionPay Online Payment takes multiple security measures and risk monitoring to ensure the security of online transaction.
Recently, UnionPay International has reached cooperation with two more internationally known airlines. Turkish Airlines is a leading airline company in the world. Now, UnionPay cardholders around the globe are able to purchase tickets of flights departing from mainland China on the Chinese and English versions of its official website. AirAsia is the largest low-cost airline in Asia. It has supported UnionPay Online Payment in RMB and now supports multi-currency payment with UnionPay cards to facilitate more UnionPay cardholders outside mainland China to book tickets online.
To reward its cardholders, UnionPay International has selected 10 airlines to provide exclusive privileges. From now to February 28, 2017, cardholders may enjoy discount up to 18% off when using UnionPay cards (card number starting with 62) to book flight tickets on the websites of Hong Kong Airlines, China Airlines (Taiwan), Uni Air, AirAsia, Delta Air Lines, Emirates, Qatar Airways and Ethiopian Airlines. The offers include special fares, instant discounts, mileage feedback and lucky draw.
Now, airlines that support ticket booking with UnionPay also include Dragonair, Cathay Pacific Airways, All Nippon Airways, Singapore Airlines, Jeju Air, Thai Airways International, Air France, Lufthansa and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. Almost all of these airline companies provide payment webpages in Chinese. Cardholders may log onto the websites, fill in departure time and some necessary personal information, choose “UnionPay card” as the payment method, and then complete payment via UnionPay Online
