This “Global Airport” themed campaign covers more than 100 renowned airports across about 30 countries and regions, including 17 of the 20 busiest airports worldwide. In Japan, over 60 stores at 28 airports in cities including Tokyo, Osaka, Okinawa and Hakodate participate in the campaign, offering discount as high as 10% off.

In Singapore, stores of Tumi, Michael Kors, kate spade new york at Changi Airport have joined the UnionPay International cross-border marketing platform, U Plan, offering discount as high as 25%. All the stores of these three brands in Singapore have joined U Plan. Besides, the King Power duty free at 4 airports in Thailand, JR duty free at 7 airports in Australia and New Zealand as well as Travel Pharm at 3 airports in New Zealand provide U Plan exclusive offers too.

To enjoy U Plan privileges, cardholders may download the exclusive e-coupons via the mobile phone application of UnionPay International and participating institutions. They may also receive the merchant coupons automatically on their mobile phones after booking flight tickets and hotels via Ctrip and CYTS or while using dianping.com and Uroaming service when traveling abroad. Cardholders may enjoy the highest discount available at participating stores when presenting U Plan e-coupons and pay with UnionPay cards.

Multiple surprises far more than just shopping discounts
This year’s “Global Airports” special campaigns aims to build a comprehensive consumption ecosystem covering duty-free shops, catering merchants, book stores, gift shops and Wifi rental, and providing value added services and privileges such as VIP lounges, airport shuttle buses, car rental and tax refund.

For instance, tourists with kids may enjoy UnionPay exclusive offers at four TOY PARK stores at the international airports of Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya, etc. A free GPS is provided for paying 5-day car rentals or more with UnionPay cards at Thrifty in Auckland Airport in New Zealand, which is good news for self-driving families. The VIP lounges in Hong Kong and Moscow airports provide exclusive privileges for UnionPay premium cards too.
